Jackets win first district match-up vs. North Garland

Stinger Staff

It was a difficult non-district slate for the Rockwall Jackets this season, ending with a heart-breaking, last minute loss to Mesquite Horn at Cowboy Stadium. Posting an 0-3 record through the first three games of the season, the Jackets were eager to notch a W in their first district match-up against North Garland last Friday.

And that’s exactly what they did.

The Rockwall offense got off to a fast start, shooting on all cylinders.

Quarterback Will Reed threw for 5 touchdowns in the first half, while junior standout receiver Sam Crawford finished the game with 156 yards receiving and three touchdowns.

Special teams added a score, and the defense was stout, holding North Garland to just seven first half points.

Due to the fast start, the Jacket starters were able to sit most of the second half, giving the back-ups some valuable playing time.

Up next, the Yellowjackets will travel to Garland to play Lakeview Centennial this Friday at 7:30.
