The Rockwall Orange Wave advanced to the UIL State Marching Contest for the first time in the RISD history. In order to perfect their technique, the Orange Wave has been working since the beginning of August. Only through months of practice, has the Orange Wave improved greatly and put together a state-ready performance. Last Saturday was the Area marching contest. While both Rockwall and Rockwall Heath normally qualify for the preliminary round, no one has ever advanced to the finals round. The Orange Wave gave a stellar performance in prelims and landed a top in the Finals: placing 4th of the 26 bands performing. With one record broken for the day, the Orange Wave set out to break another one that night. Performing second in finals, they gave a stronger performance than in prelims and landed in 5th place. Before this year, neither RHS or RHHS had qualified for the State Marching Contest. This year that all changed with the Orange Wave landing a state qualifier spot.

At the State Marching Contest, the band competed against 40 of the state’s best bands.

Though the finished 31st, even making it this far was an huge honor and indication of how amazing this group truly is.

Way to represent the Jacket Nation.
