Nearly 2 weeks into the school year, Rockwall ISD´s new block schedule has brought up some new feelings about what’s to come. The schedule is arranged into A and B days. The A days have class periods 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8. B days have class periods 1, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Each class period is 90 minutes long, except for first and eighth period which are 45 minutes long. Also there are 4 lunches throughout the day. Accounting for students traveling between the Gene Burton College and Career Academy, students and teachers have a very long day! We took a poll to see how students felt about our newly confusing way of school life.

Our poll results said:

22 students say they love it!!

45 students say they hate it!!

Students had a lot to say. Lilly Santos says, ¨It is easier to have 5 classes a day than 8.”

Clay Duckworth says, “It’s amazing when you have 3 off periods.”

Across campuses, Raney Phillips says, “I’m at Heath but we Hawks still don’t like it.”

However, many students agree that the division of classes gives them plenty of time to complete homework and study. We hope to encourage a great feeling about this school year’s new schedule.
