Ever had a conspiracy theory or a poem that you want to discuss with your friends, but when you bring it up they just roll their eyes and change the subject? If this has happened to you, then you should consider joining the Poetry and Conspiracy Club, also known as the P&C Club.

The club, which was founded last year by Rockwall student Heaven Miracle, discusses poetry that students have written themselves and feel comfortable sharing with the group. Most of the poems are highly emotional, with discussion centered on how the members feel when they write/read the poems.

I know it’s been a safe haven for me. Everyone has been so accepting and the people love you for who you are.”

— Annalaurie Hibbs

The conspiracy side of the club is separate, but the idea of students bringing topics they want to discuss remains the same. In their most recent meeting, members discussed the egg conspiracy theory, based upon a short story by Andy Weir, which claims that we are all one single being that is being trained in this world to eventually become “god.”

P&C is open to anyone and everyone that has a remote interest in participating in discussions, though its impact goes far beyond poems and conspiracies.

This year’s president, Annalaurie Hibbs, explains what the club has meant to her:

I know it’s been a safe haven for me. Everyone has been so accepting and the people love you for who you are.

The meetings are held every other Tuesday with the next scheduled for October 3 after school in room 2508. Hibbs encourages you to come and join:

Come and feel like you can be accepted. People need to feel loved and cared about“and we are all here to listen to what you have to say.
