The Stinger Staff recently sat down with Rockwall cross-country freshman standout, River Hill, who despite his young age, is one of the top runners in the state.

The Stinger: What made you start competing in cross-country?

River: I like running and I started running track in 6th grade. Then I discovered I was kinda good, so I did it in middle school. I built up and ran summer track, which made me better.

The Stinger: How do you feel about being the youngest, but possibly the best runner on the team?

River: I don’t believe I’m the best. We all work hard and we all push each other to become better and everyone’s best all looks different.

The Stinger: Do you think you can go to state?

River: Yes as long as I push myself, stay consistent, improve each and everyday, and stay focused I believe that I can.

The Stinger: Do you plan on running school track if so what events are you looking forward to?

River: Yeah, I plan on running the 1600-meter run, 3200-meter run, and the 4×800 meter run. I’m also practicing for indoor and summer track just to perfect my craft.

The Stinger: Well it was nice interviewing you and good luck with the rest of the season!

River: The privilege was mine thank you for considering showcasing cross country athletes!
