The Highland Park Scots have lost only one game at Highlander Stadium in the last 18 years, and last weekend, the Jackets fell short in their attempt to become the second team to defeat them at home since 1998.

The Scots jumped out to an early 22-0 lead in the first eight minutes of the game due to a couple of Rockwall miscues, but the Jackets closed the gap to within eight points; unfortunately, that was the closest they would get for the night.

In the second half, after two failed fake punts, the Scots opened up the lead, winning the game by a final score of 43-21.

Though it wasn’t the start to the season they hoped to have this year, they can look to last year’s team for motivation.

After beginning the season 0-3, the Jackets stormed through district play undefeated, winning the title for the second consecutive year. They continued their winning streak before falling in the fourth round of the playoffs, ending one of the most successful season’s in school history.

One of the high points of the night for the Jackets was senior running back, AJ Blacknall, who amassed 161 rushing yards on 22 carries.

The Jackets look to get back on track this Saturday as they head to the Cotton Bowl to take on the Rowlett Eagles. Kick-off is at 1:30 pm.
